Nawabganj is a city of the Nagar Palika Parishad type in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
Nawabganj is located in the north Indian plain 25 km northeast of Lucknow . The city forms the center of the Barabanki metropolitan area , in which the district administration of Barabanki is located. The national highway NH 28 (Lucknow– Faizabad ) runs through the city. Nawabganj is divided into 25 wards and had 81,163 inhabitants at the 2011 census. 147,550 people lived in the Barabanki metropolitan area.
