Faizabad ( Hindi : फ़ैज़ाबाद , Urdu : فیض آباد; Faizābād [ ˌfæːʒaːˈbaːd̪ ]; formerly Fyzabad ) is an Indian city in the state of Uttar Pradesh 5 km away from the holy city of Ayodhya , the birthplace of God Ramas .
The city lies on the right bank of the Ghaghara river . At the 2011 census, the population of Faizabad was 165,228.
Faizabad and Ayodhya form a joint municipal self-government ( Nagar Palika Parishad ; joint municipal board ).
history
In 1722 Saadat Khan was appointed Nawab and initially resided in Faizabad. He took advantage of the increasing weakness of the Mughal Empire to found his own dynasty.
