Barahathawa ( Nepali बरहथवा ) is a city ( municipality ) in the eastern Terai of Nepal in the Sarlahi district .
Barahathawa is 7 km east of the Bagmati River .
Barahathawa received city rights in September 2015. For this occasion, the neighboring Village Development Committees Hajariya , Laukath and Murtiya were incorporated. The urban area covers 71.4 km².

At the 2011 census, the VDCs that made up the city of Barahathawa had 50,424 residents.
