Barbara Becker-Jákli (* 1952 in Rosenheim ) is a German historian and author of publications with a focus on the topics of National Socialism and the persecution of Jews in Cologne from 1933 to 1945.

Life

As the daughter of a Hungarian father and a German mother, Barbara Becker-Jákli was born in Rosenheim, Upper Bavaria, but has lived in Cologne since childhood. After attending a grammar school there, she studied history , ethnology and philosophy at the University of Cologne . In 1981 she submitted her dissertation, Die Protestanten in Köln , to the Philosophical Faculty of the University , which was also published in 1983 in the series of the Verein für Rheinische Kirchengeschichte .

From 1988 until she retired on December 31, 2017, Barbara Becker-Jákli worked as a research assistant at the NS Documentation Center of the City of Cologne , researching the former Jewish population in Cologne and their lives. In addition to her publications on the history of the Jewish population of the city of Cologne, especially during the years 1933 to 1945, she published a detective novel in 1998, which has now been published in several editions, and edited the handwritten manuscript of the then Cologne city ​​physicist Bernhard Elkendorf “Medical Topography of the city of Cologne ”.

Barbara Becker-Jákli is married and lives in Cologne.
