biography
On May 27, 1784, Barbara Erni was caught red-handed during a sneak theft "on Müsnen" ( Mösma area above the village of Eschen). Since more than three thefts were proven in the following investigations, she was sentenced to death according to the Constitutio Criminalis Carolina . The trial took place in front of the chapel on the Rofenberg . This square had already served as a rural parish square for the judicial parish of Untere Landschaft since 1573. The execution took place at the Güdigen execution site and was carried out by the Bregenz executioner . On February 26, 1785, she was beheaded with the sword .
Their fate soon found its way into the Liechtenstein sagas and is one of the better-known sagas today. Artistic arrangements include among other things the prisoner's song of the golden boos (published in: Four worldly beautiful and new songs . Around 1800). The neoclassical / rock band WeltenBrand dedicated a song to her on their 1997 music album Das Nachtvolk . Furthermore, the Golden Boos-Gasse in Eschen is named after her.
