Barbara Knöfler (born August 21, 1957 in Aschersleben ) is a former member of the state parliament ( non-party ).

Life and work

Barbara Knöfler made from 1974 to 1976 a vocational training as a food laboratory technician / engineer. for food technology . She was then employed in the Quedlinburg Meat Combine until 1982 and in the Quedlinburg District Office from 1982 to 1993.

During this time she took her Russian language proficiency test in 1986 . He then studied law at the Humboldt University in Berlin (1986–1989) and at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (1989–1992). Between 1992 and 1995 she graduated from the Halle Business and Administration Academy. In addition to her political work, she then completed a distance learning course at the Hamburg Academy for Distance Learning .

She is married and has two kids.

Political party

From 1976 to 1989 she was a member of the SED , from 1994 to 2007 a member of the PDS and from 2007 to October 2008 a member of the Die Linke party . Knöfler has been non-party since October 2008.

Barbara Knöfler has been a city ​​councilor in Quedlinburg since 1978 . Since 2007 she has been a member of the district council in the Harz district . From 1994 to 2011 she was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . For the PDS she entered the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt for the first time in 1994 ( 2nd electoral period ) . She sat for the left-wing parliamentary group in the Committee on Legal Affairs and the Constitution, the Petitions Committee and the Election Review Committee.

The scandal broke out on October 14, 2008, when it became known that she was said to have made secret audio recordings of meetings of the parliamentary group and of a telephone conversation with parliamentary group leader Wulf Gallert in 2005 . She resigned from the parliamentary group and party without resigning from her mandate. On October 20, 2008 the members of the Harz district board of the DIE LINKE party called on Barbara Knöfler in a unanimous resolution to resign and return the mandates in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt, the Harz district council and Quedlinburg city council and to give them space for successors of the DIE LINKE party close.
