Barry Philip Jones

Barry Philip Jones (born September 29, 1941 in Rangiora , North Canterbury , † February 13, 2016 in Christchurch ) was Roman Catholic bishop of the Christchurch diocese .

Life

Barry Philip Jones attended St. Joseph Convent School in Rangiora and St. Bede's College in Christchurch. He received his theological training at the Christchurch Seminary and Holy Cross College in Mosgiel . On July 4, 1966, he received the Ss Mary and Francis de Sales Church in Rangiora by Bishop Brian Patrick Ashby the priesthood .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on June 28, 2006 Coadjutor Bishop of Christchurch. The episcopal ordination donated him the Bishop of Christchurch, John Jerome Cunneen , on October 4th of the same year; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo , Apostolic Nuncio to New Zealand, and John Basil Meeking , Former Bishop of Christchurch. His episcopal motto was "The Lord delights in His people" ("For the Lord is well pleased with his people", Psalm 149: 4).

With the retirement John Jerome Cunneens on May 4, 2007, he followed this in the ministry of the Bishop of Christchurch. He died of a heart attack in February 2016.
