Dmitri Nikolajewitsch Barsuk (born January 20, 1980 in Armavir , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian volleyball and beach volleyball player.

Career

Barsuk played with Alexei Tarantin since 1995 and won the European Youth Championship in 1999. With Vladimir Kostyukov he won two bronze medals in this competition over the next two years. The duo also won the Russian championship in 2001. Other partners Barsuk in the first years were Michail Kuschnerjow and Denis Tenenbaum .

Barsuk first appeared in Rhodes in 2003 with Roman Arkayev . At the European Championships in Alanya , the new duo narrowly missed a medal in fourth, and at the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro they finished 17th. The continental tournament in 2004 and the World Championships in Berlin both ended Barsuk / Arkajew in ninth.

Barsuk made his first joint appearance in Vitória in 2006 with his new partner Igor Kolodinski and immediately achieved a top ten placement. In 2007 the duo won three bronze medals at open tournaments. At the World Championships in Gstaad, Kolodinski / Barsuk only lost to the Americans Todd Rogers / Phil Dalhausser in the final . They also finished fifth in the European Championship in Valencia and second in front of their home crowd in Saint Petersburg . After finishing third at the 2008 European Championship , they became the first Russian beach volleyball player to win a Grand Slam tournament in Klagenfurt . Then they took part in the Olympic tournament in Beijing and finished ninth. In 2009 in Kristiansand there was another tournament victory.

In 2011 Barsuk played with Alexei Jutwalin , u. a. also at the World Cup in Rome . Even with Juri Bogatow and various other partners, he did not have any top placements on the FIVB World Tour until 2013 . With Nikita Ljamin , Barsuk landed on the World Tour podium for the first time in four years in Xiamen in October 2014 . In 2015 Barsuk won the silver medal at the European Games in Baku at the side of Yaroslav Koshkarev and also took part in the World Cup in the Netherlands . At the end of 2015 he returned to Nikita Ljamin and since then has had several top ten placements on the FIVB World Tour . At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , they finished fifth.

Barsuk played in the hall at VK Dynamo Krasnodar as a Libero.
