Roman Sergejewitsch Arkajew ( Russian Роман Сергеевич Аркаев , English transcription : Roman Arkaev, born November 25, 1973 in Simferopol ) is a former Russian beach volleyball player .

Career

Arkayev made his first international appearance in 2001 at the Challenger tournament in Kiev . In 2002 he played with Pawel Karpuchin before he formed a new duo with Dmitri Nikolajewitsch Barsuk in 2003 . At the European Championships in Alanya, the Russians were only defeated by the German duo Dieckmann / Reckermann in the semi-finals ; they also lost the game for third place in three sets against the Swiss Egger / Heyer . In the first main round of the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro , they failed as third in the group against the Swiss Laciga brothers. In 2004 they were again superior to Dieckmann / Reckermann in the second round of the European Championship in Timmendorfer Strand .

In 2005 they had to admit defeat to the eventual world champions Márcio Araújo and Fábio Luiz at the World Cup in Berlin after their main round defeat against the German Polte / Schoen .
