Marvin Polte (born February 5, 1976 in Paderborn ) is a former German indoor and beach volleyball professional player and today's coach.

Indoor volleyball

At the age of 16, he began the VBC Paderborn to indoor volleyball to play. In 1996 he was appointed to the first team (then 2nd Bundesliga) of the indoor team. After his relegation to the third division, he moved to TV Biedenkopf in 1997 and to VC Bottrop 90 in 1998, with whom he also twice rose to the first division and won the West German Cup. In 2002 he moved to FTM Schwabing in Munich and in the following years also played for TSV Grafing and ASV Dachau in the first and second Bundesliga.

Marvin Polte was particularly successful in beach volleyball. In addition to two West German and three Lower Saxony championship titles, he became German champion here in 2002 with his partner at the time, Thomas Hikel . This year he was at the beginning of addition Bayerischer beach volleyball indoor champion and the readers of the German Volleyball newspaper for Vice-beach volleyball players selected this year. The following year he took part in the European Championships in Timmendorfer Strand with his then teammate Kay Matysik.
He also showed his quality as a player a year later at the 2005 World Championships in Berlin . As a successor in the tournament, he finished fourth with his partner Thorsten Schoen . Further placements in the main draw on the international beach tour underlined this success and at times Polte even took 13th place in the international rankings.
From 2000 to 2006, Polte consistently held a top ten position in the German rankings. During this time he collected over 20 tournament victories a. a. at Masters and Beach Cups and was in the semi-finals of a tournament over 40 times. In the last four years he was also an active representative and was the only top German player to have been given a referee's license. This made him a confidante for players, officials and organizers outside of the field.

Coaching activities

Marvin Polte was already in demand as a beach and indoor volleyball coach during his playing days. In addition to regular courses in the beach volleyball hall in Düsseldorf, there were also bookings for camps abroad in Turkey, Tunisia, Portugal, Senegal, Italy and Spain. As a consultant to the women's team Anja Günther / Silke Kerl , he gained further experience in this area. After his active career, Marvin Polte was co-founder and head coach of the largest beach volleyball school in the world, which he left in 2011. In 2010 he also took part in the A-Trainer course of the German Volleyball Association.

As an indoor coach, he achieved promotion to the league with SSV Hamm and led the club from Hammer South to third place in the league in 2011 (best club result so far). In 2012 he was also the head coach of the Kaczmarek / Walkenhorst squad , which he led to a surprising fifth place at the European Championships in The Hague. After Thomas Kaczmarek was injured, Alexander Walkenhorst was also runner-up in the German championship with his interim partner Eric Koreng. He also looked after the women's national team Borger / Büthe at several national and international competitions.

Polte has been assistant coach at the newly promoted Bundesliga club TSV Herrsching since 2014 .
