Bartłomiej Gąsienica-Sieczka (born September 26, 1973 ) is a former Polish ski jumper . In 1993 he became Polish champion and silver medalist at the Universiade in Zakopane .

Career

Gąsienica-Sieczka started for WKS Zakopane . For this sports club he won his first national medal in 1992 together with Jan Kowal , Zbigniew Klimowski and Krzysztof Rams with the championship title in the team.

Gąsienica-Sieczka was a participant in the 1993 Winter Universiade in Zakopane, where he also got his first podium finish in an international competition. He won the silver medal behind the Japanese Naoto Itō from Średnia Krokiew and was also third in the team competition together with Jarosław Mądry , Stanisław Ustupski and Marek Tucznio . A few weeks later Gąsienica-Sieczka won the championship title on the large hill with 0.8 points ahead of his teammate Jan Kowal.

At the beginning of the 1993/94 season Gąsienica-Sieczka was included in the national team and was initially part of the Polish team for the ski jumping World Cup . After he failed to qualify in the first four competitions, he was downgraded for the remainder of the season. In the following seasons 1994/95 and 1995/96 he was only used as part of the national group at the World Cup competitions in Zakopane, but missed the qualification every time.

After his active career, he remained connected to ski jumping. He is the first Polish medalist at the Senior World Ski Jumping Championships , which have been held annually since 1990. In Zakopane in 2003 he won the gold medal in the individual competition in the youngest age group (30-34 years) from the Mała Krokwia , as well as silver in the same age group from the normal hill.

Bartłomiej Gąsienica-Sieczka is the son of ski jumper Roman Gąsienica-Sieczka and the grandson of Olympian Stanisław Gąsienica-Sieczka .
