Zbigniew Klimowski (born January 18, 1967 in Nowy Targ ) is a former Polish ski jumper and today's ski jumping coach.

Career

Klimowski started for WKS Legia Zakopane . For this sports club he won his first national medal in 1984 with Jan Kowal , Jarosław Mądry and Mirosław Pytel with the championship title in the team.

On December 30, 1985, Klimowski made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup in the opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament 1985/86 in Oberstdorf . In the first three years, Klimowski always landed in the back of the list, sometimes even beyond 100th place. It was not until March 20, 1988 that he was able to win his first and last World Cup point in Oslo on Holmenkollen with 15th place. With this point he finished 74th in the overall World Cup ranking at the end of the season.

At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , Klimowski jumped to 49th place on the large hill.

After the Olympic Games, Klimowski started in the World Cup and the Continental Cup, but could not achieve any points in either series and then ended his active ski jumping career after the 1991/92 season.

With a total of nine championship titles at the Polish Championships, Klimowski is one of the most successful athletes in Poland. However, he was only able to get the championship in singles in Zakopane in 1992 when he won from Średnia Krokiew by a large margin over Jan Kowal and Robert Zygmuntowicz .

Klimowski currently works for the Polish Ski Association, where he was among other things the assistant trainer of the former Polish head trainer Stefan Horngacher .
