Bartholomaeus Texier

Bartholomaeus Texier (born in Draguignan ; died on August 19, 1449 in Lyon ) was the Magister General of the Order of Preachers from 1426 until his death .

Bartholomaeus Texier entered the Dominican order in his hometown. He taught theology in Montpellier and later in Aix-en-Provence . From 1418 to 1422 he was Provincial of the Order Province of Provence. At the General Chapter in Bologna in 1426 he was elected Magister General. In the following years he campaigned for rule observation and the reform of Dominican convents . In the Reich he supported Johannes Nider and Peter von Gengenbach. In 1433 he was incorporated into the Basel Council and stayed in Basel at least until 1435.
