history

In 1665, a statue of the Virgin Mary is said to have been erected on a sandstone pillar at the site of today's basilica, the pilgrimage in 1706 led to the construction of a wooden chapel above the statue. In 1740 the foundation stone of the church was laid, the construction of which was directed by Bartolomäus Wittner. In 1759 the church was consecrated by the prince-bishop of Breslau, Philipp Gotthard von Schaffgotsch . The towers were completed in 1777. The Way of the Cross was built in 1877 and the Sacred Heart Chapel in 1882. The statue of the Virgin Mary was placed above the tabernacle. Between the chapels of the Way of the Cross, as an extension of the church, there is also the chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Virgin Mary in neo -Renaissance style . The area in front of the church entrance is decorated with a number of sculptures from 1822 and 1949 and a mission cross .
