In a crumbling future, humanity struggles with demons and other horrific beings for survival. In this magical world populated by many races, ancient science is condemned as witchcraft, and as the world begins to plunge into the abyss, only one hope remains: the resurrection of the exiled magician Dark Schneider. This powerful wizard had once tried to conquer the world with the help of his four companions. When it was finally sealed, his friends, now under the influence of the dark power of the goddess Anthrax, decided to continue this plan. In addition, they decide to revive the evil goddess. In the middle of the war for her homeland, the young Yoko Dark frees Schneider's soul. So bound to them, he unwillingly decides to face his former friends, but just as confidently, angels and devils.
Characters
- Dark Schneider is a 400 year old magician who has been resurrected. He appears selfish, lustful, irresponsible and brutal and sees himself as the ultimate hero. But he was trapped in the body of the boy Luzi for 15 years, and his friendship with Yoko has a positive effect on the character of the magician. So he decides to protect her.
- Tia Noto Yoko is the daughter of the high priest of Metallicana and grew up with Luzi Renren. She awakens the magician Dark Schneider and fights from now on for her country and against the anthrax.
- Luzi Renren is a little boy in whose body Dark Schneider's soul lived. When he wakes up, he disappears, but his consciousness can reach the magician. It turns out that the boy is the fallen angel Lucifer.
- Kal Su is Dark Schneider's most capable student. He is also called the High King of Ice because he is the second strongest magician after Dark Schneider. He is influenced by the anthrax because of old guilty feelings and so he leads the troops that are supposed to subdue the kingdoms. However, he loses in a magical duel against his teacher and henceforth takes on the fight against the anthrax and the angels with him.
- Ashes Ney is a mixed breed Dark Elf and was picked up by Dark Schneider. She becomes his daughter and lover and feels betrayed by him when he fights for Yoko after his return. In the fight the magician sacrifices himself for the thunder goddess and Ashes decides to stand on his side again.
- Gala is a ninja master and a friend of Dark Schneider.
- Abigail is a magician who leads the armies with Kal Su. But he is also one of the 10 wise men in Europe and still knows the ancient science that the ancestors used.
Manga
Many of the names in the manga have been adopted from, or based on, well-known rock and metal bands . Dark Schneider is named after Udo Dirkschneider , the kingdoms are called Whitesnake , Metallicana and Iron Maiden and there are spells like Judas Priest and Deep Purple .
The manga first appeared in Japan in 1988 in the popular manga magazine Shōnen Jump and was called Wizard during the first chapter . The story has so far appeared in 27 volumes, all of which were published in German by Carlsen Comics from 2000 to 2013 . Hagiwara has been writing the story for Ultra Jump magazine since 2004 , which is aimed at an older readership than Shōnen Jump. An English translation is published by Viz Media , a French by Glénat and a Spanish by Planeta DeAgostini .
