The Bastei is a caravan that was manufactured in the GDR .

Manufacturer

The bastion was manufactured by VEB Karosseriewerk Dresden with its operations in Rosenthal , Wilsdruff and Radeberg . The caravan consists of a fully insulated sandwich construction on a single-axle chassis.

Models

The Bastei caravan is available in various models that were produced between 1974 and 1990. These differ in their appearance and total weight.

  • Bastion 1
  • Bastion 2
  • Bastion 350
  • Bastion 390
  • Bastion 351

The models 390 and 351 were also sold under the name OASE by Fritz Berger. Sales trailers with the model designation VK 350 / VK 350-1 and VK 351 were also produced on the basis of the Bastei.

construction

The Bastei caravan consists of a wooden structure , which is planked on the inside and outside with Sprelacart ( laminate panels ). The outer sides (left / right) consist of four panels each, the front and back of two panels each. The spaces between the scaffolding are filled with polystyrene foam between the panels for thermal and cold insulation .

The wheel arches are made entirely of sheet aluminum . In the interior of the car there are two seating groups that can be converted to sleep. The sizes of the seating groups vary depending on the model. The table serves as a central insert between the benches. There is also a small kitchen with a gas cooker - sink combination and, depending on the model, a refrigerator and wall units opposite the entrance door. A wardrobe is built in on the opposite side of the kitchen. Some model variants have a Solar 3000 gas heater below the wardrobe. The seat chests can be used as storage space. Additional storage space can be found in additional wall cabinets. The entire interior is made of Sprelacart (laminate panels) with a honeycomb insert to reduce weight. The floor is made of plywood. With the start of production of the Bastei 351 in 1987, the windows were adapted to the internationally common dimensions for the first time. Piacryl panes and a hinged front window were introduced for export . In the 351 model, the rear seating group was supplemented as a round seat version with a lifting table variant.

The bastion has a 12 V power supply regulated by a converter and a 220 V system. The ceiling pendant lamp was replaced by a normal ceiling lamp after further developments. On the drawbar there is a gas bottle crate for two bottles with a content of 5 kg each, which is made of sheet metal or GRP depending on the model .

landing gear

The chassis of the Bastei consists of a self-supporting ladder frame with vibration dampers and a torsion bar axle. On the last models, the chassis is partially galvanized. The chassis has a mechanical-hydraulic overrun brake with different reversing systems.
