Bastian Asdonk (born March 11, 1974 in Moers ) is a German author, journalist, musician and co-founder of the video platform Hyperbole.

Life

Asdonk spent his early childhood near the family home in Kamp-Lintfort . After that he grew up in northern Germany. His great-aunt is Brigitte Asdonk , who was a founding member of the Red Army faction . The doctor Johannes Asdonk is his great-uncle.

While studying communication science and philosophy at the University of Essen, he learned from Norbert Bolz and Vittorio Hösle, among others . As a student he worked as a radio and television writer for WDR in Cologne. He has lived in Berlin since 1999, where he works for various publishers, television broadcasters and media companies.

By 2009 he published numerous singles and albums under various pseudonyms. His electronic publications appeared under the name "Bleach", his band project with Benjamin John Osborn under " Neonman ".

In 2014, he and two co-founders founded the video platform Hyperbole, which received the Grimme Online Award in 2015. He himself received the Grimme Prize in 2018 for the idea and concept of the documentary series "Germania" and the Golden Camera Digital Award in the same year

In his work as a writer, he deals with the topics of digitization, identity and homeland, for example in his debut novel “Mitten im Land”, which was published in 2016 by the Zurich publishing house no & but .

Since 2016 he has been leading and producing the series of talks "Search & Order", in which he invites other writers. The series will be broadcast as Podcats at Detector.fm .
