Batulicin (also: Batu Licin ) is the capital of the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Tanah Bumbu in the province of South Kalimantan in Indonesia and is located a good 250 kilometers east of the provincial capital Banjarmasin .
geography
Batulicin is located at the mouth of the river of the same name and serves as a ferry port to the island of Laut at the southern end of the Makassar Strait , through which the biogeographical separation of Asia and Australia runs through the Wallace Line .
history
At the beginning of the 19th century Batulicin was an independent kingdom under the name Batoe Litjin , which was handed over to the Dutch East Indies by King Banjar on May 4, 1826 . From 1898 it has been the main town of the now self-governing Tanah Bumbu, although it has never been officially named the seat of government.
economy
