Baudouin de Lichtervelde

Baudouin de Lichtervelde (born January 3, 1877 in Vienna , † April 10, 1960 in Lisbon ) was a Belgian diplomat .

Life

Baudouin de Lichtervelde was the son of Marguerite Lucia de Spangen de Ippoliti and Gontran de Lichtervelde (1849-1905). He married Isabeau de Bailleul and studied philosophy and literature and graduated in law at the University of Louvain from.

Baudouin de Lichtervelde entered the foreign service on December 11, 1897, and became an attaché in Washington, DC , where his father was envoy at the time. He was the legation secretary at the embassies in Madrid , Beijing , Berlin , Bern and Lisbon. He had diplomatic functions in Tangier , The Hague , Belgrade , Rome , Bucharest and from August 8, 1911 to March 1919 at the Holy See . From 1921 to 1942 he headed the embassy in Lisbon.
