The Treetop Walk Black Forest is a 1250 m long treetop walk on the Sommerberg west of Bad Wildbad in the Baden-Württemberg district of Calw at an altitude of about 750 m above sea level. NHN .. The entrance to the path can be reached from the mountain station of the summer mountain railway via the Emmaweg or from the public parking lot via a zigzag path.
The path
The treetop path runs for a length of about 636 m and a height above ground between about 4 and 20 m. It follows the terrain with a steady, slight incline and offers various didactic stations as well as experience stations such as balancing beams or wobbling elements. In addition, there are 15 comic boards along the path, which are intended to bring excitement and knowledge, especially to children , as part of a treetop comic rally .
The entire path including the ramp in the observation tower is barrier-free and has a maximum gradient of 6%.
Lookout tower and slide
At the end of the path you reach a 38.5 m high observation tower , which is mainly made of wood and, thanks to the arrangement of the twelve double-inclined, laminated main supports, looks like a large twisted cup. The supports are set up rotationally symmetrically at the same distance from each other and are inclined laterally both outwards and clockwise. They are connected to one another by steel pipes, cross braced several times, and some are protected from the weather by sheet metal cladding.
The access from the path to the tower is at a height of about five meters at the second turn of the 614 m long ascent ramp that runs within the support pillars and which reaches the twelve-sided, roughly ring-shaped viewing platform after a total of nine turns . This is attached to the outside of the pillars with steel cantilever girders and offers a view far into the Black Forest, the Rhine Valley and the Swabian Alb . Orientation arrows to visual targets and to the other treetop paths of the sponsoring company are attached to the parapet.
At a height of 25 m there is a triangular platform between the ascent ramp and a tubular steel support in the center of the tower, from which a 55 m long tunnel slide within the tower leads helically in several turns to the ground.

The treetop path is open all year round except for a few days in November and December, with the opening times being adjusted to the seasons during the day.

The carrier operates four other facilities: the treetop trail Saarschleife , the Baumwipfelpfad Bavarian Forest , the Baumwipfelpfad the Natural Heritage Center Ruegen and the Tree Top Walk Lipno (the latter in a joint venture with minority participation).

The Treetop Walk Comic Rally was recognized as an official project of the UN Decade of Biological Diversity 2016 .
