history
The Bayerische Rundschau was founded by Ekkefried Caspar Baumann as a local daily newspaper for medium-sized businesses. The first official edition appeared on January 1, 1903 with the subtitle daily newspaper for the interests of the creative classes in town and country . In 1914 the newspaper received the status of the official gazette for the city of Kulmbach. During the time of National Socialism , the newspaper was subordinated to the Bayreuth Gau newspaper Bayerische Ostmark . It was not until 1949 that the Bayerische Rundschau was able to reappear under its original title. After EC Baumann resigned, the management of the publishing house remained within the family: In 1948 the founder's daughter, Hilde Uhlemann, became a general partner of the publishing house, and in 1968 her son Horst Uhlemann took over the management. Under his management, the publishing house was equipped with the first phototypesetting and web offset printing in Bavaria . With his retirement, Horst Uhlemann sold the publishing house in 2003 to the Franconian Day in Bamberg . Finally, in 2009 the media company Fränkischer Tag / Baumann was reorganized under the umbrella of the Upper Franconia Media Group . Under the new management, the publishing house at the Kulmbach location experienced a further push in modernization.
