The media group Upper Franconia GmbH & Co. KG is a in the Upper Franconian city of Bamberg -based multimedia company, which employs the approximately 1,200 employees. The Upper Franconia Media Group has existed in its current form since 2003, when the Fränkischer Tag GmbH & Co. KG from Bamberg and the Baumann Group from Kulmbach merged. The company adopted its current name in 2009, which is also considered the birth of the company in a legal sense.

With its roots, the media group refers to the origins of the company's oldest media: to the year 1830, when the forerunner of the later title Die Kitzinger appeared in Kitzingen with the advertising and entertainment paper , and to the year 1834, when the Bamberger Tagblatt as The forerunner of the Franconian Day appeared.
