When the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation designed its own version of the internationally successful Popidol format for its program in the summer , Baumgartner applied to participate in the casting show. In several qualifying rounds she prevailed against more than 1,700 competitors and reached the final of the top twelve. Together with the other finalists, she recorded two singles: Stars In Your Eyes , the title song of the first season, rose to number 3 in the Austrian charts, Tomorrow's Heroes reached number 1 in the charts and was the first Austrian single to achieve gold status even before its release . In the end, Baumgartner could not prevail against all of her colleagues and reached sixth place in the casting competition.

After the first two winners of Starmania , Michael Tschuggnall and Christina Stürmer , were able to launch very successful record releases immediately after the show, the other finalists were also used in the summer of 2003 after a tour through Austria. Seven months after she left, Baumgartner's debut single Shosholoza , an interpretation of the well-known South African folk song, was released . The recording was advertised relatively little by Baumgartner's record company and reached number 69 in the Austrian charts. Further publications have not followed so far. She is currently studying journalism at the University of Vienna .

From April 2008 to 2009 Beate Baumgartner sang with the electro rock band Monilla .

On March 27, 2009 she made her debut as the singer of Parov Stelars Live Band at the Posthof Linz .
