Beate Nodes (born May 23, 1964 in Bürgstadt ; † October 19, 2008 ) was a German racing driver .

Career

Beate Nodes' motorsport career began in 1983; at that time she took 2nd place in the Ford Fiesta Ladies Cup . The following year she won the championship of this series.

In 1985 Nodes switched to the German Production Car Championship - later the German Touring Car Championship ( DTM for short ) - and drove there for the Ford Grab Team . Besides Ellen Lohr , Nodes was the only woman in the DTM to secure a podium position when she finished third in the AVUS race in 1986 .

From 1990 to 1992 Nodes drove, together with Thomas Beyer and later with Achim Stegmüller, in the Ford Fiesta Mixed Cup , where she won several races. In 1992 Nodes and Stegmüller took second place in the overall ranking. Nodes also drove in the Inter Series , and the endurance championship and the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring, but without notable success.

Beate Nodes drove exclusively for Ford in her professional motorsport career .

Private

In 1994 the then 30-year-old Nodes ended her motorsport career and became the manager of a shoe store. Nodes was married and died of heart failure on October 19, 2008 at the age of 44 .
