Beau-James Wells (born November 17, 1995 in Dunedin ) is a New Zealand freestyle skier . He starts in the freestyle disciplines.

Career

Wells has been participating in AFP World Tour competitions since 2009 . He made his debut in the World Cup in December 2011 in Copper Mountain , which he finished in 32nd place in the halfpipe competition. In January 2012, he finished fourth on the halfpipe at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Kühtai . At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in 2013 in Voss , he finished 13th on the halfpipe and eighth place in slopestyle . At the beginning of the 2013/14 season he came third in big air at the One Hit Wonder Down Under in Thredbo and second on the halfpipe at the New Zealand Freeski Open in Cardrona . At his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he reached 21st place in slopestyle and sixth place in halfpipe competition. In March 2014 he became Junior World Champion in the halfpipe discipline in Chiesa in Valmalenco . He finished the season in second place in the AFP World Tour overall standings. In the 2014/15 season, he finished second on the halfpipe at the New Zealand Freeski Open in Cardrona and third on the US Revolution Tour in Copper Mountain . At the 2015 Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco, he won silver in slopestyle and gold in halfpipe competition. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he finished fourth with 91.6 points
