Beckinghausen is an eastern district or statistical district of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Lünen , district of Unna . It belongs to the district 1272 Beckinghausen .

The Lüner district Beckinghausen, 2.49 km² in size, is located in the eastern part of the urban area. It is cut through by the Datteln-Hamm Canal .

Neighboring places

Beckinghausen borders the city of Werne in the northeast with a small corner . The Bergkamen districts of Heil and Oberaden and the Lüner districts of Horstmar , Lünen-Mitte and Wethmar join in clockwise direction .

In 1897 the Catholic Herz-Jesu-Kirche belonging to the diocese of Paderborn was consecrated.

On October 1, 1923, the previously independent rural communities Beckinghausen with 460 inhabitants and Horstmar with 3,363 inhabitants were incorporated into Lünen.

In 1987 the Beckinghausen district had a total of 1042 inhabitants. As of December 31, 2015, Beckinghausen's population was 945. On December 31, 2017, it was 980.

education

In the building of the former Hellweg elementary school on Kreuzstraße there is now a branch of the rainbow school. This is a special school with a focus on emotional and social development, which is sponsored by the Unna district.

traffic

The district is mainly accessed through Landesstraße 654 (Kamener Straße) and Kreisstraße 16 (Kreuzstraße from Kamener Straße towards Oberaden). Their intersection forms the center of the place. The north of Beckinghausen is more rural. It is located on state road 736, which leads from Lünen to Hamm .
