geography

location

The Lüner district of Horstmar, now only 3.52 km 2 in size, was a former peasantry and is located in the south-eastern part of the urban area. When it was incorporated into Lünen (1923), Horstmar was still 5.73 km 2 in size, but lost 2.21 km 2 due to the new division by the city of Lünen into statistical districts .

Neighboring places

Horstmar borders the Bergkamen district of Oberaden in the northeast and east . The Lüner districts of Niederaden , Lünen-Süd , Osterfeld and Beckinghausen join in clockwise direction . In the south, Horstmar borders the Dortmund district of Lanstrop , separated by the A2 motorway.

history

On October 1, 1923, the independent rural communities Beckinghausen with 460 inhabitants and Horstmar with 3363 inhabitants were incorporated into Lünen. Horstmar was (and is) very much influenced by mining . Many miners found on the coal mine " Victoria I / II " (formerly mine Prussia ) in the district of Horstmar work.

As a result of the incorporation, the city of Lünen acquired the ownership of Schwansbell Castle , which was located in the Horstmar area (Horstmar district). Now it belongs to the newly established statistical district of Osterfeld . Due to the arbitrary reorganization into statistical districts, the Preußenhafen is now also in the area of Lünen-Süd.

On May 25, 1987, the Horstmar district had a total of 7,286 inhabitants. As of December 31, 2015, the population was 7544. On December 31, 2017 there were 7551 inhabitants

education

The main office of the elementary school at Lüserbach is in Horstmar. This has a branch in the Niederaden district. Until a few years ago the school was still called the Horstmar-Niederaden Elementary School .

Lünen Prussia station

In terms of transport connections, the south-eastern districts of Lünens are quite cheap. On the edge of the Horstmar district - on the border with the Lünen-Süd district - is the Lünen Prussia train station, which opened on February 19, 1920 and where the trains of the regional transport lines RB50 Dortmund - Lünen - Münster and RB51 Dortmund - Lünen - Coesfeld - Enschede stop . The station, named after the former Prussian mine , has two platform tracks.

From mid-2014, the station was rebuilt as part of the nationwide modernization program. It was raised to 76 cm and an elevator was installed to make the station accessible . In addition, the platform was equipped with weather-protected areas and there is a departure screen and new doors in the station building . Due to a planning error, the construction project was delayed by 6 months and it became more expensive. The project cost a total of 2.9 million euros, of which DB Station & Service AG paid 2 million euros and the state of NRW paid 0.9 million euros. The lighting, the path to the platform and the covered entrance area were paid for in full by the Westphalia-Lippe Local Transport Association . (€ 300,000)

The work was completed at the end of 2016.

The motorway junction for the A2 -only in the direction of Hanover and Berlin is also nearby . A connection in the direction of Oberhausen is planned through the construction of two roundabouts on Bebelstrasse and Preußenstrasse along with tunneling under the railway line near the train station .

The main road through Lünen-Horstmar is Preußenstrasse.

Culture and events

In 1996 the "Landesgartenschau Lünen 1996" - "LaGaLü" for short - took place in Horstmar on the former colliery and agricultural land. The so-called Seepark Lünen is now located on the LaGaLü site , right next to the canal. It is used for local recreation. It is known nationwide and a popular destination. What remains is a large bathing lake with a sandy beach, a large flower meadow, a mountain dump and a huge artificial hollow, the so-called "Horstmarer Loch". The “Rock im Loch” open-air party, which is particularly popular with young people, is one of the annual attractions in the district.
