Before we were so rudely interrupted , the comeback - album of British rock group The Animals , who from this publication The Original Animals called. Before we were so rudely interrupted appeared in 1977 on the label Jet Records and is the genre blues-rock attributed. This often overlooked album is now regarded as a kind of "forgotten classic" of the band. The Italian e-zine Viceversa ranks the album at number 42 of the most important rock albums of all time.

History and style

The band The Animals , which was very successful in the 1960s, finally split up in 1969 and the members pursued their solo careers. The most successful in this relationship, alongside keyboardist Alan Price, was singer Eric Burdon with the band War . After the separation of the "Original Animals" various cover bands used the legally unprotected name The Animals , so that Eric Burdon, Alan Price, Hilton Valentine , Chas Chandler and John Steel as the former founding members decided to reunite with their original line- up to give the name The Original Animals after eleven years .

The album title refers to a quote by William Connor , the columnist of the Daily Mirror , which his series of articles after the Second World War resumed with the words: "As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted ... [As I said before I was interrupted so roughly ...] ” .

The recordings took place in December 1975, but copyright problems delayed the publication until August 1, 1977. It was not until 1983 that another Original Animals album, Ark, should appear. The timing for the release of a blues rock album was extremely bad. Punk and disco dominated the music business in the late 1970s and the record only sold to the band's avowed fans , even if it was favorably received by the majority of music critics . A lack of marketing by the record company United Artists and a lack of a tour following the release did the rest. In the USA the album reached number 70 in the charts , in the Netherlands it reached number 24 - in the native United Kingdom it did not reach the charts .
