Behrendt Friedrich August von der Marwitz

Behrendt Friedrich August von der Marwitz (* 1740 ; † 1793 ) was the court marshal of King Friedrich Wilhelm II.

origin

He was the son of August Gebhard von der Marwitz (* March 20, 1695 - † December 28, 1753) and his second wife Johanna Ulrike von der Goltz (* August 20, 1720 - June 14, 1772) daughter of Henning Bernhard von the Goltz . Major general Johann Friedrich Adolf von der Marwitz ( Hubertusburg -Marwitz) and Lieutenant General Gustav Ludwig von der Marwitz ( Hochkirch -Marwitz) were his older brothers.

Life

He was first educated at the Knight Academy of Brandenburg. From there he went to the university in Frankfurt an der Oder. Like many others, he fled to Magdeburg in 1759 before the Seven Years' War. There he met Friedrich II . In 1765 he became chamberlain at the court of Prince Heinrich and in 1772 his chamberlain.

After his wedding on May 12, 1776, he commuted between Gut Friedersdorf and Berlin. After the death of Friedrich II. He became court marshal of Friedrich Wilhelm II. Shortly before his death, to his chagrin, he became director of the court theater.

family

On May 12, 1778 he married Susanne Sophie Marie Luise von Dorville (1756–1809). She was the daughter of State Minister Johann Ludwig von Dorville and his second wife Charlotte Fredrike von Beville . They had five children including:
