Being Human - The Salman Khan Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Indian actor Salman Khan on July 28, 2007. This has made it its task to help the underprivileged people. Main areas are health care and education.

Akshara High School

The foundation supports a project by MPSM, which enables the 4,000 children to acquire basic knowledge in mathematics. These are children between the ages of 5 and 12 who live in these remote areas. There are a total of 200 training centers.

The Veer Initiative

Craniofacial Operations

With the Maaya Foundation, Being Human offers free treatment for children with severe facial deformities, also known as craniofacial malformations . Maharashta in need of water

The year 2013 saw the largest drought since 1972. More than half of the residents, including animals, suffered from water shortages and hunger. The Maharashta government could not raise enough water tanks to avoid the disaster. The foundation has provided the residents with 2500 water tanks, one of which contains 2000 liters of water.

Free eye camps

The foundation has free eye camps in Nanded, Mumbai, Patiala, Satara, Wai and Waje, where cataracts are treated free of charge for patients. Through the eye camps, Being Human has reached and helped over 15,000 people and performed over 500 operations.

Little Hearts program

In 2013 the foundation started a program called “Little Hearts” together with Fortis Foundation. As part of this program, children from families below the poverty line with congenital heart defects are treated free of charge. With the help of the Hans Foundation, Being Human was able to set up several camps where children can receive medical care in various remote regions such as Alwar, Bhagalpur, Leh and Kargil, thus increasing the scope of this program.

Marrow Donor Registry, India (MDRI)

Since November 2010, the foundation has been working with MDRI to create a world class stem cell registry in India and profile volunteer donors. MDRI is one of the first not-for-profit organizations in India to maintain an electronic database of voluntary unrelated stem cell donors for patients with life-threatening blood disorders and facilitate blood stem cell transplants. Together with MDRI, Being Human has set up donor registration camps at various universities in Mumbai. MDRI currently has 19,500 donor profiles.
