The Beinn Mheadhoin , ( Gaelic for Mittelberg ) is a mountain in Scotland . In the count of mountains with a minimum notch height of 150 m, it is the tenth highest mountain in Great Britain . Belonging to the Munros, the mountain lies in the center of the Cairngorms and is one of the most remote mountains in the region.

The summit is wide and flat. It is known for the rock formations in the summit area: large boulders that were deposited here by the retreating glaciers at the end of the last ice age . The highest point of the mountain is actually the top of one of the largest boulders that can be reached after a simple climb .

Because of the remoteness of the mountain, it is necessary to cross the Cairn Gorm Plateau to climb the Beinn Mheadhoin. The shortest ascent route begins at the Coire Cas car park at the foot of the Cairn Gorm ski area and initially follows the Fiacaill à Choire Chais ridge . From the top of the ridge, the path descends following the Raibert- Kar to Gebrigssee Loch Avon . The route circles the lake, past the so-called Shelter Stone , before climbing back to Loch Etchachan . From here the trail leads up to the summit ridge. This route is about 20 km long, with an ascent of 1400 meters to be mastered.

The Beinn Mheadhoin can also be climbed from the south via Glen Derry . This route is much longer, but it can be done by bike to shorten the time for the ascent. An ascent from this direction can be combined with climbing the Derry Cairngorm .
