The District ( Municipio ) Bejuma is one of 14 districts in the state of Carabobo in northern Venezuela .
The seat of government is the city of Bejuma . It has an area of 469 km² and for 2001 a population of 39187 inhabitants.
history
The region was formerly inhabited by Indians. In 1843 the owners of the Hacienda Bejuma met and agreed to found the village of Bejuma.
In November 2008 Lorenzo Remedios was re-elected (with 48% of the vote) to head the district.

economy
The population lives from agriculture and animal husbandry. Oranges, lemons, cereals, legumes are grown and cattle, pigs and poultry are raised.
Celebrations
The traditional founding festival takes place on September 18th every year. There are also regular celebrations in honor of Saint Raphael on October 24th.
