Bellelay is a place in the Bernese Jura , which belongs to the political municipality Saicourt in the canton of Bern in Switzerland . It is 931 m above sea level. M. on the northern edge of the moor La Sagne in the headwaters of the Sorne . The village is surrounded by the Jura mountains, in the north is the Haut de Béroie (1088 m above sea level) and in the south the Montbautier (up to 1160 m above sea level). The anticline of the Moron rises to the east .

Bellelay is located 5 km north-northwest of Tavannes on the cantonal road from Tavannes through the Pichoux gorge into the Delsberg basin near Bassecourt . In a cheese factory is Tête de Moine , a cheese specialty of the region were prepared.

Worth seeing are the former Bellelay monastery and the Hôtel de l'Ours, which was built at the end of the 17th century . The monastery buildings have housed a psychiatric clinic since 1899 .
