Bellis sylvestris is a species of daisy ( Bellis ) plant.

features

Bellis sylvestris is a perennial rosette hemicryptophyte that reaches heights of 15 to 30 centimeters. The leaves are up to 25 millimeters wide. They are dark green and long wedge-shaped at the base. The heads are (25) 30 to 40 millimeters in diameter. The bracts are (5) 7 to 12 millimeters in size, narrowly elongated and more or less pointed. The ray florets are often red on both sides.

The flowering period extends from September to June.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 36 or 54.

Occurrence

Bellis sylvestris occurs in the Mediterranean region in moist, shady locations in forests, bushes and phrygana at altitudes from 0 to 1100 (1500) meters. Its original distribution area includes Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Portugal, Spain with the Balearic Islands, Gibraltar and Andorra, France with Monaco and Corsica, Italy, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Crimea, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Israel, Cyprus and the Aegean Sea.
