Belu-Simion Fainaru
Belu-Simion Fainaru (* 1959 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian- Israeli sculptor and installation artist who lives in Haifa and Antwerp.
life and work
Belu-Simion Fainaru studied art and philosophy at the University of Haifa and art and design at the University of Chicago . He completed his studies with a Master of Fine Arts .
He also studied at the Domus Academy in Milan and the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles in Belgium. Fainaru has been a professor at the Faculty of Architecture at the WIZO Haifa Academy of Design and Education since 1984 and has lectured at universities in Belgium and Japan.
In 2008 Fainaru was involved in the founding of the Mediterranean Biennale , in 2014 (with Hubertus Wunschik) in the establishment of the Free International Art Academy-FIAA and in 2015 in the establishment of the Arab Museum of Contemporary Art (AMOCA) in Sachnin .
Fainaru had solo exhibitions at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst in Antwerp, the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg and the Saitama Museum in Japan.
Fainaru was 1,992 participants of the Documenta IX in Kassel, 1993, the Biennale di Venezia in Venice, the Biennale Sonsbeek in Arnhem and 2006, the Havana Biennial in Cuba.
Since 1985 Fainaru has received numerous prizes for his work.
