Ben Flynn (born August 23, 1970 ), known under the stage name Ben Eine , is an English street artist and graffiti artist from London .

Act

One is best known for its lettering on shops in London's Shoreditch , Brick Lane and Broadway Market areas . Some of these letters have been mapped to make them easier to find. His letter works can also be found in Paris , Stockholm , Gibraltar , Hastings and Newcastle upon Tyne .

Until 2008, Eine produced commercial prints and designs for customers. His now demolished workshop was located above the Dragon Bar on Leonard Street in London. One made a number of custom clothing designs, particularly "VANDALS" sweatshirts. He experimented with screen printing processes and designs and worked for the screen printing company Pictures On Walls. One produced many of the hand-drawn prints for artists represented by Pictures On Walls, including Banksy , Jamie Hewlett , Mode2, Modern Toss, and David Shrigley . In 2008, Eine left Pictures on Walls to become a freelance artist.

One of them initially spread its own sticker graffiti in neon colors with the words "EINE" in East London. He achieved first notoriety through a collaboration with Banksy. One introduced Banksy to the graffiti scene; Banksy in turn entered the commercial street art scene. One uses typography in his work . In his commercial work he has produced numerous fonts including: shutter, circus, neon, elton, vandalism and wendy.

In May 2010, Eine painted a complete alphabet on Middlesex Street in East London, renamed Alphabet Street by residents and recognized by the Times as "a street that is now internationally recognized as a living work of art with direct links to the White House" is described. A work by Eine actually hung in the White House for a while . In July 2010, British Prime Minister David Cameron gave the painting of One Twenty First Century City to US President Barack Obama .

In 2012, the typographer Chank Diesel released Tenderloin , a free font he designed in collaboration with Eine. In 2013 Edition Haus und Galerie Nelly Duff published "Tenderloin A – Z", a 52-color screen print based on the Tenderloin font.

On June 7, 2018, one was involved in an argument at the Tamma Abts exhibition. One was ordered to pay a settlement payment of £ 85 and procedural costs of £ 85.

Reception and exhibitions

In 2007 the public began to become aware of one of graffiti. Tower Hamlets Partnership asked Brick Lane residents how they felt about graffiti in public spaces and whether it should be removed. At the same time, one was presented in a separate chapter in the book Street Renegades: New Underground Art by Francesca Gavin.

In January 2008, Eine was featured in an article in the London magazine Time Out as one of the six best new street artists in London. He can also be seen in the documentary The Art Of Rebellion 2: World Of Urban Art Activism by Christian Hundertmark and in Sebastian Peiter's documentary Guerilla Art .

A solo exhibition (March 2011) at the White Walls Gallery in San Francisco was sold out prior to opening. He was also involved in the largest street art exhibition to date, "Art in the Streets" at MOCA, Los Angeles (April 2011).

His graffiti typography was featured in Art Belows “The Peace Project” , including on the wall of the Central Line at Oxford Circus. One of his pieces, simply representing the word Love, entitled "Circus Love" , was exhibited in Regent's Park after Art Below, where Eine was added to a growing list of street artists who have exhibited with Art Below, such as Banksy, Inkie, Mike Ballard and Goldie.

social commitment

In the course of his artistic career, Ein made numerous charitable contributions, including donations to Shelter and War Child Charity from the proceeds from the sale of his works at Christie's auction house .

His most recent charity campaign was a mural he donated to Shoreditch to condemn the knife attacks in London.
