Benjamin Allen H. Winters (born June 14, 1976 in Maryland ) is an American author , journalist , teacher and playwright .

Life

Winters grew up in Maryland. In high school he played in the punk band Corm alongside John Davis, now a member of the Title Tracks . He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1998 . In the first volume of his science fiction trilogy Last Policeman , The last police officer , he got a Edgar Allan Poe Award , the second band Countdown City , he won the Philip K. Dick Award 2013. 2017 received Winters for his novel Underground Airlines to Sidewise Award in the Best Long-Form Alternate History category .

He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife Diana and three children .
