Ben Lomond Mountain AVA (recognized since December 9, 1987) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California and is part of the supra-regional Santa Cruz Mountains AVA and Central Coast AVA . The area is located in the western region of the Santa Cruz Mountains and extends within the administrative division of Santa Cruz County , which is part of the San Francisco Bay Area .

The first vines were planted in the 1860s. The wine-growing area is at an altitude of almost 800 m above sea level. NN and therefore no longer benefits from the cooling mists of the Pacific Ocean . Viticulture is not easy: in the past, the vineyards were repeatedly victims of the Pierce Disease . In addition, birds and game repeatedly cause considerable damage to the vineyards. So far, Beauregard Vineyards is the only winery operating under the Denomination of Origin Ben Lomond Mountain AVA.
