Ben Wheatley (born 1972 in Billericay , Essex , United Kingdom ) is an English film director and screenwriter .

Life

After Wheatley devoted himself to television at the beginning of his career, in recent years he has mainly worked as a director of films, most of which describe his English homeland. His films Down Terrace (2009), Kill List (2011) and A Field in England (2013) have been shown at international film festivals and Wheatley has received multiple directorships. Wheatley directed fourteen episodes of the television series Ideal , which aired between 2009 and 2010, and two episodes of the British television series Doctor Who , which aired in 2014.

Wheatley is married to screenwriter Amy Jump , with whom he worked on the film projects Kill List , A Field in England , High-Rise and Free Fire .
