Benedict Friday

Benedict Freitag (* 1952 in Zurich ) is a Swiss theater and film actor .

Life

Freitag was born the son of actors Maria Becker and Robert Freitag and grew up with his parents in Zurich with two brothers. His brother Oliver Tobias also became an actor. At the age of 18, Freitag first went to the USA and Canada , traveled as a hippie and lived for six months on the reservation of the Stoney Nakoda Indians . He then toured for some time as a rock musician in Germany and the Netherlands .

Friday learned his acting craft at the touring theater Die Schauspieltruppe Zürich , which his parents founded in 1956 together with the German theater actor Will Quadflieg and with whom they appeared in the entire German-speaking region and in the USA. He began his acting career in 1980 with an engagement at the Schillertheater in Berlin . Since then, Freitag can be seen regularly in television films and series as well as in theater productions .

Freitag was married and lived with his wife at the time in Tuscany , where he temporarily earned his living as a bricklayer . During the shooting of the film The Invisible , which premiered in 1987, Benedict Freitag met the singer Nena , with whom he was together until 1992.

Freitag lives in Germany and has five children (including Larissa Kerner ), three stepchildren and six grandchildren from his connections with the American Deborah Barrow and the German singer Nena .
