Benedict Joseph Fenwick SJ (born September 3, 1782 in Leonardtown , Maryland , USA , † August 11, 1846 ) was an American Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Boston .

Life

Benedict Joseph Fenwick entered the Jesuit order , and received on June 11, 1808 sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Leo XII. appointed him Bishop of Boston on May 10, 1825 . The Archbishop of Baltimore , Ambrose Maréchal PSS , donated him episcopal ordination on November 1 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Charleston , John England , and the Bishop of Philadelphia , Henry Conwell . The inauguration in the Diocese of Boston took place on December 3, 1825.
