Ambrose Maréchal PSS (born December 5, 1768 in Ingré , France , † January 29, 1828 ) was a French-American religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Baltimore .

Life

Ambrose Maréchal joined the Sulpizianerorden at and received on 25 March 1792 sacrament of Holy Orders .

On January 26, 1816, Pope Pius VII appointed him Bishop of Philadelphia . However, he did not take up this office. Instead, the Pope appointed him Archbishop of Baltimore on July 4, 1817 . The Archbishop of Boston , Jean-Louis Lefebvre de Cheverus , ordained him episcopal on December 14 of the same year . Co- consecrator was the Bishop of New York , John Connolly .

From 1822 to 1825 he was also an Apostolic Administrator of Richmond .
