Leonard Neale

Leonard Neale SJ (born October 15, 1746 in Port Tobacco , Province of Maryland , † June 18, 1817 ) was Archbishop of Baltimore .

Life

Leonard Neale joined the Jesuit order in and received on June 5, 1773 sacrament of Holy Orders .

On April 17, 1795 Pope Pius VI appointed him . the Coadjutor Bishop of Baltimore and titular bishop of Gortyna . The Archbishop of Baltimore, John Carroll , donated him episcopal ordination five years later, on December 7, 1800 .

With the death of John Carrolls on December 3, 1815, he followed this as Archbishop of Baltimore.
