Bengt Zederfeldt

Bengt Zederfeldt (* 1929 in Fors, Västergötland , † February 10, 1999 in Malmö ) was a Swedish physiologist and surgeon.

Life

After graduating from high school in Gothenburg, Zederfeldt studied medicine at Lund University from 1949 . His doctoral thesis on wound healing originated in physiology , in which he also completed his habilitation in 1957 . In 1958, he and one of his supervisors moved to the Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset in Gothenburg. There he initially taught experimental surgery , and from 1965 surgery . After a year of study in San Francisco, he was appointed professor of surgery in Lund and senior physician at Malmö General Hospital ( Malmö allmänna sjukhus ) in 1971 . He headed the hospital for 19 of his 24 years in office. In the wound healing laboratory, many of his employees wrote their doctoral theses on wound healing, sutures and sewing technology. In 1974 he chaired the 113th meeting of the Association of Northwest German Surgeons in Malmö . For several years he advised the national authority on all medical questions ( Socialstyrelsen ) in surgery.
