Bengtsfors is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län and the historic province of Dalsland . It is also the capital of the municipality of the same name .
The place lies between the two lakes Lelång and Bengtsbrohöljen, which are connected here by a lock and form part of the Dalsland Canal . In 1895 Bengtfors was connected to the Lelångenbanan , on which regular traffic was suspended again in 1960.

Gammelgården
Gammelgården is the largest open-air museum in western Sweden. There are around 17 historical buildings typical of the landscape.
Halmens Hus
The Halmens Hus (dt. House of Straw ) is the former center and today's museum of the straw weaving trade. It is right next to Gammelgården.

Dal Västra Värmlands Järnväg
From Mellerud, Bengtsfors is today's end point of the former Mellerud – Arvika railway line . A rail bus runs twice a day between Mellerud and Bengtsfors in summer with a connection to the passenger boats on the Dalsland Canal. The approximately 50-kilometer route between Bengtsfors and Årjäng can be ridden with bicycle draisines .
