Benigno Soldini

Benigno Soldini (born November 18, 1811 in Chiasso ; † May 24, 1852 ibid) was a Swiss politician . From 1848 until his death he was a member of the National Council.

biography

His father owned a thriving Bernardo forwarding company and was Mayor of Chiasso and longtime Grand Council of the Canton of Ticino . Benigno Soldini attended the College of the Servites in Mendrisio and the Collegio Gallio of the Somaskers in Como . Then studied law at the University of Pavia . After graduating in 1833, he worked as a lawyer and notary in Chiasso from 1834 .

Soldini represented radical liberal views and was a member of the Società dei Carabinieri (shooting society). In 1843 he was elected mayor of Chiasso. In 1847 he took part in the Sonderbund War as a volunteer , and in 1848 he took part in the Milan uprising against Austria . He ran successfully in the first National Council elections in October 1848 . Three and a half years later he was murdered for political reasons.

His brothers Carlo Soldini and Giuseppe Soldini were later also national councilors.
