Benjamin Karabinski (born July 2, 1981 in Freiberg ) is a German politician ( FDP ) and was a member of the Saxon state parliament from 2009 to 2014 .

Life

Karabinski attended the Polytechnic High Schools Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi and Clara Zetkin in Freiberg , before he switched to the Freiberg Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium in 1992, where he passed his Abitur in 2000. After 15 months of military service with the Jägerbataillon 371 "Marienberger Jäger" in Marienberg , he began studying history and social studies as a teaching post at the University of Leipzig in 2001, combined with a master's degree in political science and modern and medieval history. He received a scholarship from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and was involved in the academic self-administration of his alma mater. From 2007 he was self- employed in the field of adult education and organizational planning / event management. Karabinski has been working at Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden since 2015 , where he also completed his commercial training and, in cooperation with the Nord-Ostdeutsche Sparkassenakademie, further training to become a specialist . He is currently working as a private customer advisor in a branch in Dresden.

politics

Karabinski has been a member of the Young Liberal Action Saxony since 1997 , of which he was chairman from 2002 to 2005. He has been a member of the FDP since 1999 . From 2003 to 2011 and from 2017 to 2019 he was a member of the state board of the FDP Saxony . He is currently chairman of the Freiberg local association and treasurer of the central Saxony district association. In the Saxon local elections in 2008 , he won a mandate in the Central Saxony district council. In June 2009 he was elected to the Freiberg city council and led the FDP city council faction until 2017. In the 2009 state elections , he entered the Saxon state parliament via the FDP state list . He was deputy parliamentary group chairman, member of the interior committee, the committee for school and sport and from April 2012 to 2014 one of 19 members of the Saxon NSU investigation committee "Neo-Nazi terror networks in Saxony". With the departure of the FDP from the state parliament after the state elections in Saxony in 2014 , he lost his mandate .

Karabinski has been a member of the administrative board of the Wilhelm Külz Foundation since 2004 and has been its chairman since 2015.
