Benjamin Markl (born July 8, 1979 in Neustadt in the Black Forest ) is a conductor , musician , music teacher and judge in Augsburg .

Life

Benjamin Markl began his musical career in the Black Forest , before he went to the Leopold Mozart Center in Augsburg in 2001 to study elementary music education and major in trumpet (artistic and educational) with Uwe Kleindienst . After completing his artistic diploma, he began studying wind orchestra conducting with Maurice Hamers in 2006 and completed his master's degree with the orchestra of the Belgian Air Force in March 2013. Since then he has been pursuing his passion for brass band music intensively and trying to spread this orchestral formation, which is unique in its sound, in Germany .

He is also active as a musician - among others in the Symphonic Wind Orchestra Vorarlberg and in the ten-man Blechzehn line -up . Before that, he played for several years in the concert band of the Bavarian Brass Band Academy (3BA) as a flugelhorn player , with which he became two-time German champion and in May 2009 European champion in the B-Section. After that, in search of new challenges, he switched from the music stand to the conductor's stand.

Benjamin Markl is one of the three founders who brought the Brass Band Swabia to life in the summer of 2008 and with whom he was runner-up in the upper level of the German Brass Band Championships in 2012 and 2014 and in the highest level at the German Open in Grimma in 2015 won.

As a multi-trained musician (trumpet), conductor, music teacher and judge, Markl has made a name for himself in the wind orchestra and brass band scene at home and abroad.

In addition to the musical direction of the Woodshockers, he is currently also the musical director of the 3BA experience band , the Vorarlberg brass band , the Rehetobel brass band and the Kötz wind orchestra . He also runs the music school in Kötz. He is also active as a trumpet teacher and conductor at various music schools, teaches conducting at the Brandner Tal music school ( Austria ) and has been Thomas Ludescher's artistic assistant at the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra since 2013 .

He attended numerous master classes, including A. with the Cory Band (Cardiff), the KMK (Assen) and other well-known orchestras. He also found time to get coached by international luminaries such as Robert Childs or Tijmen Botma.

With his formations he won numerous national and international titles in various competitions (including the European Brass Band Championship (Freiburg, Lille - FR), German Open, Flemish Open (Belgium), Butlins Mineworkers Contest (England)).
