Benjamin Piel
Benjamin Piel (born January 18, 1984 in Hagen ) is a German journalist , publicist and editor-in-chief . He is the recipient of the Theodor Wolff Prize .
Life
After graduating from high school at Friedrich-Leopold-Woeste-Gymnasium in Hemer, Sauerland, Piel studied Modern German Literature , Modern and Modern History and Comparative Religious Studies at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen .
He then volunteered at the Schweriner Volkszeitung , after which he was editor of the newspaper and in 2012 switched to the Elbe-Jeetzel-Zeitung in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district as an editor . Since 2015 he has headed the editorial team of the Elbe-Jeetzel-Zeitung together with Jens Feuerriegel. He also writes irregularly as an author for the weekly newspaper Die Zeit , Zeit Online and Spiegel Online and for the Cologne society magazine Froh !. Piel has been editor-in-chief of the Mindener Tageblatt since June 1, 2018 . Under his leadership, the MT received numerous awards at the European Newspaper Award as well as several other journalism prizes , including the Theodor Wolff Prize. Piel lives in Minden , is married and has three children.
In 2014, Piel was awarded the Theodor Wolff Prize for the first time in the Elbe-Jeetzel-Zeitung for his contribution . In it, the author reported "directly and without false shyness" about "sexual companions" who help disabled people to have sexual experiences.
He has been a member of the jury for the Theodor Wolff Prize since 2018.
