Self , self-image , vanity , narcissism etc. are the central themes in Benjamin Rinner's photographic work.

Rinner is best known for his mirror images . The point of departure for these photographic portraits is the human gaze at themselves. Rinner uses the reflection of the mirror, which is decisive for the constitution of the visual and mental (self) image, for his photographs. In the specific recording situation of the mirror images , Rinner's large-format camera focuses on the person observing and photographing himself through a semi-transparent mirror.

The mirror also plays a decisive role in other works, such as Rinner's self-portrait studies.
